Hey friend, welcome back! Today, we’re diving into a question I get all the time—sometimes through actual words, and sometimes through those blank stares when I mention I’m a holistic wellness coach. The big question: What exactly is holistic wellness coaching?
You’re not alone if you’re unsure—honestly, I had no idea what it was at first either! Maybe you’ve heard the term floating around but aren’t really sure what it means or if it’s even something you need. If you’ve been feeling stuck in your health journey—like you’re doing “all the right things” but still not seeing results—or if you’re just tired of trying to figure it all out on your own, today’s episode is for you. I’ll be sharing what holistic wellness coaching actually is, how it’s different from conventional approaches, and why it might just be the missing piece to finally finding lasting health and energy.
Let’s start with the basics: holistic wellness coaching is a partnership. It’s a supportive relationship that helps you make sustainable life changes in alignment with how God designed your body to thrive.
It’s not a quick-fix diet or a strict meal plan. It’s not even about chasing symptoms. It’s about getting to the root of what’s going on in your body—physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually—and supporting the whole you. As a certified holistic wellness coach, my role is to help you understand what your body is telling you, identify which systems might be out of balance, create realistic steps toward healing, and stay encouraged and accountable as you walk it out.
You bring your story, your experience, and your goals. I bring guidance, insight, and strategies rooted in both science and faith—and honestly, that’s my favorite part.
Now, you might be wondering: how is coaching different from seeing a doctor? Great question!
Most of us are used to the conventional medical model focused on diagnosing and prescribing. And while doctors are absolutely essential at the right time and place, many moms hear things like, “Your labs look normal,” or “Just try to get more rest,” when they know something deeper is going on.
That’s where coaching fills the gap. We focus on prevention, root causes, and creating a lifestyle that supports your body’s natural ability to heal. Unlike diets that rely on restriction and willpower, holistic wellness coaching emphasizes nourishment, mindset, and sustainable change—making choices that truly work for your body and your season of life. (Because let’s be real: motherhood can get a little messy sometimes.)
At first, holistic wellness coaching can sound really amazing, but I want to talk about something that often trips people up when they’re transitioning from a medical mindset to a holistic wellness coaching mindset. When we’re switching spaces in our health, it’s important to recognize some really key differences that are going to happen.
Number one is that your doctor is going to look for what’s wrong. They’re going to tell you a very clear—usually a very clear—answer about what’s going on. They’re going to tell you what to do, which is usually a prescription, and then you’re more than likely going to see pretty quick results. And even though sometimes we don’t love the way doctors administer treatment, the really satisfying part of that experience is the quick result. It takes a lot of the guesswork out of it for us. We don’t have to do anything other than show up, pay the bill, and receive everything we need—per se—wrapped up in a shiny package for us.
The downfall of that is that oftentimes the root cause, the whole picture, is not looked at in our body.
Yeah, we have a diagnosis, but is it the full picture? Is it really going to be what provides us long-term healing? And now maybe we have a prescription that’s going to help us feel better right now—but is that something we want to be on for the rest of our lives? Is that something we’re willing to maintain either long term, or maybe even permanently?
And so if we find ourselves wanting to shift our health into a new perspective, we’re also going to have to shift our mindset about how we approach that as well. Instead of a quick diagnosis, it’s going to take some time to explore and experiment with what’s really going to work for you.
Also, instead of showing up and saying, “Tell me what to do,” and getting your instructions and diagnosis really quickly, holistic wellness actually puts you in the driver’s seat. That’s right. It’s not my job—or any other holistic wellness coach’s job—to be the expert on your health, but rather to lead you to become your greatest wellness advocate, and dare I say, even your primary care provider.
I consider myself my primary care provider. Of course, I don’t write that down on paperwork when people ask, but the way I see it, everyone else—whether it’s doctors or coaches—is simply a resource to help me steward my health. I get to choose what I say yes to and what I say no thank you to. I decide, “That’s not the course of action I’m going to take over my body.”
I actually took back control years ago when I stopped letting doctors call all the shots in my health journey. Of course, there are still times when we absolutely need doctors, but when we make that mindset shift of “I’m in control. I’m in the driver’s seat. I’m the steward of my health—because no one can steward it better than me,” everything changes.
And if you step into wellness coaching, my role is to empower you to do the same. I’ll guide you to listen to your body, trust your God-given intuition, and use science and faith to support your decisions. Together, we’ll build a foundation that equips you to steward your health with confidence, clarity, and hope.
Ultimately, healing and achieving your goals will take time. And sometimes, there’s not a fixed timeline—because your body is unique. I can’t always tell you, like a doctor might, “Take this medication and you’ll feel better in two days, two weeks, or two months.” Sometimes you’ll make a change and feel a benefit right away; other times, it might take longer for those shifts to really show up.
In fact, along the way, we might even discover other things popping up—areas that need a little extra attention. If something isn’t working, we’ll dig deeper and explore what’s blocking your results until we find what truly supports your body best. There’s a trial-and-error, explore-and-experiment aspect to this journey—and it takes patience.
But here’s the beautiful part: when you figure out what’s going on, you’ll walk away with a treasure trove of knowledge about your body. You don’t have to be an expert on everyone’s health—but you should become your own greatest health advocate. You’ll learn to listen to your body, understand the language it’s speaking to you, and confidently respond to the signs and symptoms it gives.
And that, my friend, is exactly where holistic wellness coaching is designed to take you.
You might be wondering, “Is holistic wellness coaching actually for me?”
And the truth is—you don’t have to be “sick enough” to benefit from coaching. In fact, most of the women I work with are in that in-between place. They’re not in a full-blown medical crisis, but they’re definitely not thriving either.
If you’re feeling constantly tired or foggy, if you’re struggling with mood swings, anxiety, or overwhelm…
If you’re frustrated with weight that just won’t budge…
If you’re feeling burned out or disconnected from your body…
Then coaching might be exactly what you need.
I know for me, when I was starting out my journey—and honestly, even midway through—there were so many years where I could have used the help of a holistic wellness coach. But truth be told, I didn’t even know they existed until God opened the door for me to become one. And wow—how I wish I would’ve had someone to hold my hand, to guide me through the things that took me over a decade to figure out on my own. I could have felt better so much faster—and felt supported instead of confused and frustrated along the way.
Coaching is especially powerful for moms because we’re so used to putting ourselves last and trying to figure everything out on our own. But healing isn’t meant to be a solo journey. You don’t have to do it by yourself. You can show up with support, feel confident in your choices, and have clarity that you’re doing the right things to reach your goals—and to get back to feeling healthy, thriving, joyful, and loving your life again.
So what does coaching actually involve? Let’s talk about that for a minute.
First, if you’re even a little bit interested in coaching, I offer a free one-hour consultation. You’ll find the link at the bottom of this page where you can click and get on my calendar. It’s a Zoom meeting (I would love to see your face one-on-one!), but if you prefer, we can also do a phone call. We’ll simply talk about what you’re experiencing, what you’d like to experience instead, your hopes and goals for your health, and what coaching could offer you. And if for some reason I’m not the best fit, I’ll happily refer you to someone else who might be.
Now, what can you expect from coaching?
First, you’ll receive whole-person support. We take inventory of your symptoms and look at the full story—your physical health, emotional stressors, daily routines, and even your spiritual well-being. Everything matters, because your body isn’t compartmentalized.
Second, you’ll receive personalized strategy. There’s no one-size-fits-all advice here. Your plan is built around your symptoms, your goals, your schedule, and your season of life. That’s what we call biochemical individuality: your body is unique, and your path to wellness should be too.
You’ll also receive step-by-step guidance. You won’t just be told to “eat healthier” or “manage stress” without direction. We’ll create a doable, practical plan with real action steps—whether that’s eating for energy, supporting your hormones, improving digestion, or building better habits.
And because I’m a Christian wellness coach, you’ll also receive faith-rooted encouragement. You’ll be reminded that your body isn’t broken. God designed you for wellness. Coaching is not about pressure, guilt, or perfectionism—it’s about alignment, grace, and consistent progress.
Finally, you’ll receive ongoing accountability and check-ins. I’m not just handing you a plan and sending you on your way. I walk with you week after week, helping you troubleshoot challenges, celebrating your wins, and making sure you always have support. You are never alone in this journey.
I offer two different forms of coaching, and we can figure out which one is the best fit for you during your free consultation.
The first path is one-on-one coaching, designed to meet you exactly where you’re at. Maybe you just want targeted advice for a specific area, you have a personal goal you’re working toward, or you’re looking at the course and thinking, “I’m just not quite ready for that yet.” If so, we can start with one-on-one coaching and personalize everything for your unique needs and season of life.
Mama, I know finding time for your health feels impossible when you’re juggling everything else. But what if wellness fit into your life—without adding more to your plate? Live Healthy Mama will help you restore your energy, nourish your body, and build a wellness lifestyle that lasts… longer than the pile of laundry!
The second option is my Live Healthy Mama Course, which right now also includes one-on-one coaching support. This course focuses on building sustainable wellness rhythms that support your energy, hormone balance, digestion, and more. You’ll learn how to nourish your body, listen to what it’s telling you, and respond with grace and wisdom to meet your needs—and feel amazing.
Inside the course, we focus on learning how to eat, move, and rest to balance hormones, how to detox gently with daily rhythms that support your health, and how to use intermittent fasting as a woman to promote cellular health, energy, weight management, and a strong metabolism.
One of the things I love most about this work is that I take a five-pronged approach to wellness.
Because while how you implement health practices is individual to you, there are five key areas that everyone needs to have healthy, balanced, and aligned in order to truly feel amazing.
These are five core ways God designed us to thrive.
And here’s the thing—especially as women, it looks different.
If you’ve ever tried doing the same diet plan as your husband and wondered why it’s not working for you, there’s a reason! Hormones play a huge role in that. But God created our hormones to be a strength, not a weakness. So in coaching, we flip the script.
We start by understanding what’s going on in your body as a woman—how you were uniquely designed to thrive—and then we work with those systems to build a plan that helps you feel amazing in every area.
We bust nutrition myths, get to the root issues, and start healing on a deep, sustainable level—in ways that are simple and realistic for real life.
And you’ll be surprised at how simple some of these practices are—and how powerfully multifaceted they can be! Sometimes you can implement just one change in your life and see three or four major areas of your body improve—because that’s how beautifully and intricately God made our health.
He designed it so that when we do one good thing, it blesses so many areas of our body all at once.
The medical world often works the opposite way—you see the commercials, right? “This will help one thing… but might cause 15 other problems!”
God didn’t design it that way. He created health to be simple, life-giving, and effective—and that’s exactly what we dive into together.
Ultimately, information is powerful—but you don’t just need more information. You need transformation.
And transformation happens through consistency, compassion, and a plan that honors your whole self.
Here’s what I want you to hear today:
You’re not meant to stay stuck.
If you feel like your body is working against you, or like you’re running on empty no matter how hard you try—there is a better way.
God designed your body to heal and flourish. Holistic wellness coaching is simply a tool to help you realign with that beautiful design.
