I’m so glad you’re here, friend—because today we’re diving into something that hits home for so many of us: that frustrating feeling of knowing something’s off in your body, but not having the words to explain it. Almost like your body is speaking a language you’ve never learned.
You ever hear the phrase “it’s all Greek to me”? Yep. That’s exactly how it can feel when symptoms show up and you’re left guessing what they mean. If you’ve been there, you’re not alone.
Today we’re talking about why your symptoms matter, why it can feel so confusing at first, and how to start rebuilding trust—with your body and with God’s beautiful design for your health.
Here’s the truth: your body is not failing you. It’s not broken. In fact, it’s speaking to you on purpose. God created our bodies with an incredible ability to signal when something needs attention—whether that’s rest, nourishment, support, or healing.
Symptoms like fatigue, anxiety, headaches, or digestive issues? They’re not punishments. They’re invitations. Invitations to pause, pay attention, and ask, “What are you trying to tell me?”
But here’s the problem—many of us were never taught how to interpret those signals. We were taught to push through, ignore, or just live with it. And that disconnect can make us feel like our body is the enemy.
I’ve been there. I’ve looked at myself in the mirror and thought, Why can’t you just do what you’re supposed to? But what I didn’t realize back then was this: I wasn’t broken. I was just missing the tools to understand what my body needed.
So let me remind you today—your body is speaking, and that’s actually really good news. You were created for wellness, and listening is the first step.
Let’s be real—if your body is trying to talk to you, why does it feel so confusing? Sometimes it feels like trying to decode hieroglyphics without a Rosetta Stone.
One major reason? The messages we’ve absorbed from our culture. We’re told things like, “That’s just aging,” or “It’s probably your hormones,” or the classic, “Welcome to motherhood—exhaustion is your new normal.”
And when you finally get brave enough to seek help, it’s not uncommon to hear, “Your labs are normal,” “You’re just stressed,” or the dreaded, “You’re fine.”
But when your lived experience doesn’t match what you’re being told, it’s incredibly disorienting. You start to second-guess yourself. You wonder if you’re making it up. And over time, you begin to mistrust the very body God gave you.
Here’s what I want you to hear loud and clear: God didn’t design your body to deceive you. He designed it to guide you.
Your symptoms aren’t betrayals. They’re invitations. And yes—you can learn how to understand what your body is saying.
Learning to listen to your body doesn’t happen overnight. Honestly? It’s a lot like trying to understand a toddler who’s just learning to talk.
Have you ever had a two- or three-year-old try to tell you something, and you’re just standing there blinking, thinking, “What on earth did you just say?” And they’re looking at you with those serious little eyes like, “You better understand me,” but… you don’t. Cue the nervous sweat.
But guess who does know what they’re saying? The mama.
That’s right—you do. Even when no one else has a clue, you do. Because you’ve watched them. You’ve picked up on the little context clues. You’ve guessed wrong, probably more than once, and then you guessed right. You learned their language, one babble at a time.
Like when they say “baba”—maybe at first you thought they meant bottle, but later you realized they were asking for their blanket. Once you cracked the code, communication got easier.
Your body is the same way.
At first, listening might feel like frustrating guesswork. You might not know what a symptom is trying to say or what your body is asking for. But as you start noticing patterns, listening with curiosity instead of judgment, it gets clearer. You begin to realize, “Oh… when my body does this, it’s actually asking for that.”
And here’s the good news: you don’t have to understand anyone else’s toddler. Just your own.
And you don’t have to be a medical expert. You just need to learn the beautiful, God-given language of your body.
So how do you begin rebuilding trust and learning to understand your body’s signals? Let’s walk through four simple but powerful steps:
1. Observe Patterns
Start paying attention to how your body responds to different foods, stress levels, and even the changing seasons. Try keeping a gentle symptom journal—nothing fancy. Just quick notes like, “Felt energized after lunch,” or “Bloated after dinner,” or “Anxiety spiked after a super busy day.” Over time, these notes can reveal patterns that help decode what your body is really trying to tell you.
2. Get Curious, Not Critical
When something feels off, it’s easy to think, “Ugh, why is my body failing me?” But instead, try asking, “What might my body need from me today?” That shift from frustration to curiosity opens the door to healing. Criticism shuts it down—curiosity invites understanding.
3. Give Yourself Grace
You’re learning a new language, and it takes time. You’ll guess wrong sometimes. That’s okay. Every misstep brings you closer to understanding your body’s unique rhythms. Give yourself the same grace you’d give your child learning to speak—and keep going.
4. Don’t Be Afraid to Get Support
Sometimes, figuring this out on your own can feel overwhelming. That’s where support makes all the difference. In my Live Healthy Mama course and one-on-one coaching, we start with a full body symptom questionnaire to begin piecing together the clues your body’s been sending you. It’s like getting a head start—and sometimes a shortcut—because you’re not guessing in the dark.
When you partner with someone who’s studied the body, hormones, and healing pathways, you don’t have to do all the decoding alone. You can move forward with clarity, compassion, and confidence—one step at a time.
Mama, I know finding time for your health feels impossible when you’re juggling everything else. But what if wellness fit into your life—without adding more to your plate? Live Healthy Mama will help you restore your energy, nourish your body, and build a wellness lifestyle that lasts… longer than the pile of laundry!
Here’s why learning your body’s language is so powerful, friend.
When I finally slowed down and started paying attention to my body’s symptoms—really listening—I began uncovering root issues I never even knew were possible.
Take my stubborn weight, for example. For years I believed it was just about eating less and moving more. But as I dug deeper, I learned it had more to do with things like estrogen dominance and sluggish liver detoxification—issues I’d never heard a doctor mention.
I also realized that my go-to coping strategies—the ones I relied on to push through stress and keep up with life—were quietly draining my energy. Underneath it all? I had insulin resistance. Sugar had become my daily crutch. And even though I’d been tested for diabetes multiple times (it runs in my family), I was always told I was “fine.” So I never considered insulin resistance as the root issue—until I began healing and felt a huge shift in my energy and clarity.
Even my so-called healthy eating habits were only working for me half the month. The other half? I was unintentionally sabotaging my progress by following a rigid routine that didn’t support my hormonal rhythms as a woman.
It wasn’t until I started connecting the dots and getting to the root causes that I finally flipped the script on my health. I stopped feeling defeated—and started partnering with my body to heal the way God designed it to.

Let me remind you of something powerful today: God cares about your body.
He knit you together with intention, wisdom, and love.
Psalm 139:13–14 says, “For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
I don’t just love those two verses—I love the whole chapter. It’s a beautiful celebration of God’s creative power, not just in our bodies, but in all of creation. And when I’m struggling—when my body feels off, when I’m sick or exhausted or confused—I go back to this truth.
Because there are two things I have to remember:
First, God knit me together. That means He didn’t mess up. He didn’t make a mistake when He gave me hormones, or a cyclical body, or complex systems. His design is still good.
Second, His works are wonderful. That includes your body. That includes mine. Even when we feel like our bodies are failing us, God’s design hasn’t failed. The fall of Adam and Eve didn’t erase the wisdom He built into our bodies—it just means we may need to lean in a little more closely to understand it.
So when you feel discouraged or disconnected from your body, remember this: You are beautifully and wonderfully made. That truth still stands. And it’s the foundation for everything we talk about here—because you were created for wellness, and God’s design is still working in you.
Here’s another truth that brings me so much comfort: God knows every part of your body—even the parts you don’t understand yet.
That verse in Psalm 139 about being knit together in your mother’s womb? It’s not just poetic—it’s a powerful reminder that God sees the inner workings of your body, even when they’re a complete mystery to you.
He sees what’s going on before the symptoms ever appear. He understands the root issues before you even know they exist. And while we do the work of learning our body’s language, we also get to partner with Him in prayer.
Sometimes my prayer sounds like this:
“Lord, help me understand what’s happening in my body. I feel confused, but I trust that You know. I may not have a medical degree, but I know the One who designed every system within me. You made me to thrive so I can fulfill the purpose You’ve given me.”
When you feel stuck or frustrated, don’t forget—you don’t have to figure this out on your own. Yes, you’re beautifully made. But you’re also not alone. God walks this journey with you.
And He has a way of putting the right tools in front of you at the right time. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve randomly picked up a book I wasn’t even excited about, only to discover something that was a total breakthrough for my health. Or I’d be scrolling Pinterest, and an article would pop up—something I hadn’t searched for, but exactly what I needed.
God knows what resources you need to support your healing. He is faithful to guide you. Just lean on Him, ask for wisdom, and trust that He’s filling in the gaps as you walk this journey toward wellness.
Your body isn’t some random machine that occasionally malfunctions. It’s a living, breathing masterpiece. Learning to listen to it, care for it, and trust it—that’s not selfish. It’s stewardship. It’s an act of worship.
It’s saying, “Thank you, Lord, for this vessel You created. Help me to care for it well.”
So wherever you find yourself today—maybe you feel totally disconnected from your body, or maybe you’re just starting to pick up on a few of its signals—I want you to hear this: Your body is good.
Your symptoms are not the enemy.
You’re learning a new language, and you’re doing better than you think.
