Let’s be honest about something that might shake you a little: your doctor doesn’t actually care about your health. Now wait—before you bristle, hear me out. I’m not saying your doctor doesn’t care about you. Many doctors are compassionate, smart, and genuinely want to help.
But the system they’re trained in? It’s not about wellness—it’s about illness management. Doctors are taught to diagnose disease, prescribe medications, and perform procedures. That’s what we call “sick care.” They’re not trained to help you create energy, restore hormonal balance, support gut health, or calm inflammation through natural lifestyle shifts.
So when you show up feeling exhausted, foggy, anxious, or inflamed—but your labs come back “normal”—they tell you you’re fine. But you know you’re not.
That’s what I call the pit in the middle. You’re not sick enough for treatment, but not well enough to thrive.
And this is where so many women get stuck.
If you’re living in that middle space, please hear this: you’re not crazy, and you’re not alone. There is a better way—and you were created for vibrant health, not just getting by.
I want to share a personal story with you—one I remember so vividly.
I was around 18 or 20, sitting in the doctor’s office on that crinkly white paper that rustled every time I shifted. The walls were a dull beige, and the whole room felt cold and clinical. I was nervous, but more than that, I was desperate for answers.
I had been dealing with relentless fatigue, brain fog, stomach issues, and hormonal imbalances. I knew something was wrong. I didn’t feel right in my own body. So I asked for a blood panel. My doctor was hesitant—insurance wouldn’t cover it—but I was determined enough to pay for it myself, convinced this test would finally reveal the root of my symptoms.
When she walked in, she smiled as she flipped through my chart. I held my breath, waiting for the results. Chronic illness runs in my family—diabetes, thyroid disorders—and I was bracing myself for answers.
She looked up and said, “Everything looks good. You’re fine.”
I froze. Her words hung in the air while everything inside me sank. I felt dizzy. The hope I had walked in with—the belief that healing was in sight—drained out of me fast.
I thanked her, but I walked out in a daze. I felt confused, dismissed, and honestly, devastated. I had spent time and money trying to get help. But worse than that, my symptoms had been erased—because the test said I was “fine.”
What I didn’t realize at the time is that lab tests operate on a narrow scale. And doctors are trained to pay attention only to the results that fall outside of that range. If you’re not “sick enough,” you’re told you’re okay—even if your body is screaming otherwise.
It was the beginning of a long journey—one that would eventually lead me to something better. But in that moment, I felt completely alone.
Before we dive into the wellness scale, we need to talk about something that so many women carry silently: the heartbreak of going to a doctor for help—and leaving with nothing.
When you’re struggling and searching for answers, the worst outcome is hearing you have a life-altering diagnosis like diabetes or cancer. That news can flip your world upside down.
But the second worst thing?
Hearing “nothing is wrong.”
Because when you’re told that, there’s no next step. No medication. No supplement. No plan to support your body. You’re left with no direction—just the weight of feeling unwell and the growing fear that no one believes you.
And that feels unbearable.
You start to wonder:
Will anyone help me feel better?
Will anyone take this seriously?
Or am I completely on my own?
It’s isolating. It’s discouraging. And worst of all, it quietly steals your hope. You keep living in discomfort, but now with the added belief that maybe this is just the way things are.
But deep down, you still know—you were made to be well.
Let me be clear: when a doctor doesn’t help you, it’s not because you’re overreacting or imagining things. It’s because their role is to respond to clear disease. And if you don’t meet that threshold, the system makes you invisible.
But that doesn’t mean you don’t deserve care.
It doesn’t mean you don’t need support.
And it certainly doesn’t mean your body can’t heal.
Here’s a hard truth most people don’t say out loud:
A doctor will steward your illness—but you must steward your health.
If you want to feel well again—if you’re longing for energy, clarity, peace, and balance—you can’t wait for someone else to fix it for you. You have to choose to partner with your body and actively steward the health God has given you.
No one else can do that for you.
Why? Because no one cares as deeply about how you feel when you wake up.
No one else is living in your body, trying to manage your to-do list while running on fumes.
No one else feels the impact when you miss out on enjoying a vacation, or don’t have the energy to play with your kids, or lose patience because you’re running on empty.
The truth is, no one will ever care about how you show up in your life as much as you do.
That means you are the most powerful person to steward your wellness—and the good news? You don’t have to do it alone.
Now, let’s go back to the wellness scale I mentioned earlier. Take a look at the image of this wellness scale and let’s talk about what really happens in the medical world. You’ll see that on the right side of the scale is illness—that’s what the medical system is built to measure.
Doctors are looking to see, “Are you sick enough to treat?” That’s what the labs are designed for. If your numbers fall within the “normal” range, you’re told you’re fine—even if you know deep down that you’re not.
But what they don’t tell you is this: unless your results cross a threshold, you’ll be sent home with no plan. No healing. Just a silent message to come back when you feel worse.
And that’s not okay.
You deserve to know that wellness isn’t just the absence of disease—it’s a spectrum. And it starts with choosing to care for your body before things get worse.
What’s often missing from the conversation is the other side of the wellness scale.
If you’re stuck in the middle, looking to the right, the medical system is only measuring how sick you are. That’s their focus—whether your symptoms are severe enough to qualify for a diagnosis or a prescription.
But there’s another side entirely—off to the left—and it measures how well you could be.
Doctors aren’t trained to look for signs of optimal health. They’re not asking how vibrant, energized, or balanced you feel. They’re only trained to ask: Are you sick enough for treatment?
So what happens when you’re not well, but also not “sick enough”?
You land in what I call the pit in the middle—a place where your symptoms are real, but not recognized. You know you should feel better, but you don’t. And the system offers you nothing.
That’s exactly where I found myself years ago.
I spent over a decade trying to figure it out on my own—learning about nutrition, piecing together natural solutions, and slowly discovering that there was another path forward outside of the traditional doctor’s office.
It took time. But it also set me on the path to real healing.
This is exactly where holistic wellness comes in.
Unlike sick care, which waits for illness to show up on a lab report, holistic wellness coaching focuses on the other side of the spectrum—optimal health. It’s proactive. It’s personal. And it meets you where you are.
A holistic wellness coach helps you tune in to what your body is trying to say. They connect the dots between your symptoms and guide you toward a personalized, root-cause approach that actually fits your life. No one-size-fits-all protocols here—because your body is unique. Your journey should be too.
Instead of vague advice like “just eat better” or “try to reduce stress,” you’ll get a real, actionable plan. One that makes sense. One that helps you move forward with clarity and support.
And you won’t walk that path alone. You’ll have guidance and accountability to help you follow through—step by step.
This isn’t just about feeling a little better today. It’s about restoring the God-designed systems in your body that were meant to work in harmony.
That’s what true health stewardship looks like—and it starts with choosing a better way.
One of the most beautiful parts of stewarding your health?
You’re not just changing your life—you’re modeling something powerful for your family.
Your kids are watching. They see you prioritize rest, nourishment, movement, and healing. They learn to listen to their own bodies. They begin to understand that wellness isn’t something we outsource—it’s something we protect and nurture.
You’re creating more than just a healthier season. You’re building a legacy of wellness—one that equips your children to live free from preventable illness, confident in how their bodies work, and empowered to make choices that support the life God has for them.
You’re showing them how to run their race with strength.
If you’re stuck in the middle—not sick, but far from well—I want you to know there is another way. You don’t have to settle for feeling off and being told it’s all in your head.
You can choose to step into your God-given role as the steward of your body.
Your health matters. You matter.
And you were created for wellness.
